The Nanjing Grand Bridge in Pukou District has a total length of 14km and a 260m main span, with 97.5m tall towers. The design, which had to overcome waterway and geological limitations, incorporates prestressed concrete beams, steel composite sections and steel box girders.

The bridge is a key connection in the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway, which is significant in efforts to build a rail-based Yangtze River Delta.
