The deck of the Interstate 90 Innerbelt Bridge in Cleveland, USA, is to be moved by about 100mm to 125mm this weekend to prevent future stress to the steel structure.
Crews will lift and push the span to the west to achieve better alignment of the bridge's joints so that they can adjust more freely as temperatures fluctuate.
Inspections last year revealed that a number of steel members on the 50-year-old bridge were aging faster than expected. Weight restrictions have been imposed.
