The administration has said that it will make a final choice on the bridge concept next year, and is seeking two consultants to investigate the possible options over the next ten months. The bridge over Bjornafjord, which is one of the main crossings on the country's huge E39 Ferry Free initiative, will be up to 5km long and is expected to require some 100,000t of steel for its construction.

Bids are due by 10 September, and Vegvesen has said it will appoint two consultants to investigate the feasibility of four different options for the floating bridge.
