The tender drew three bids from corsortia including businesses from Colombia, Spain, Chile, Mexico and Italy.

The winning SES Puente Magdalena consortium is made up two Sacyr companies - which together have a 70% stake -  and Esgamo Ingeniería Constructores.

The main bridge will be 2.25km long and there will be 990m of access viaducts.

Construction is scheduled to take three years.
