The advice will be provided by engineers from Cowi's international bridges division, based in Copenhagen, and geotechnical centre in Glasgow.
Bridges and tunnels make up about 60% of the Smokovac-Uvac-Matesevo section of the Bar-Boljare highway, which is part of the trans-European road network. The terrain is mountainous and the project includes several major bridges across valleys. Five pillars standing up to 161m high have recently been completed by China Road & Bridge Corporation for the Moracica Bridge, a 960m-long viaduct that will carry the highway over the steep Moraca River Canyon, north of the capital Podgorica.
