The Danish Roads Directorate and the Swedish Transport Administration have announced the start of a strategic review of a second road and rail fixed link between the two countries, connecting Helsingborg and Helsingor.
The strategic review of a new toll link is expected to take two and a half years to complete, and as well as investigating alignments, the need for new connections on each side of the crossing, and the potential benefits to the two countries will also establish whether a tunnel or a bridge crossing is most appropriate.
Previous feasibility studies have come out in favour of two tunnels, but this is the first time both governments have been involved.
