The communities of Paks and Kalocsa in the south of Hungary are celebrating this week as a bridge over the Danube is joined.
Contractors Duna Azfalt expected to close the 946m bridge in February, but they have achieved the milestone a few weeks early.
The nine span extradosed bridge crosses the main channel of the Danube, as well as flood zones on either bank. The design is by CÉH.
It shortens the journey between Kalocsa and the motorway in Pacs – by 70km.
