The project involves the replacement of the Route 51 bridge, which crosses the Mississippi River to link Perryville in Missouri and Chester in Illinois.
Statements of qualification from the four teams have been evaluated, and all four have been prequalified to proceed with developing their proposals. The teams are:
- Massman Traylor Chester Joint Venture (Massman Construction, Traylor Bros and HNTB Corporation);
- The Ames Team (Ames Construction and Parsons Transportation Group);
- American Bridge/Burns & McDonnell Team (American Bridge Company, Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company and Modjeski and Masters);
- Lunda Team (Lunda Construction Company and TY Lin International).
“The shortlisted teams have been selected to compete for the contract to oversee the design and construction of the Chester Bridge design-build project,” said project director Brian Okenfuss. “We are excited about the interest we received and look forward to working with the shortlisted teams to further develop their proposals. Each team has great experience in both design and construction, and the proposals will detail their plans to meet or exceed each project goal.”
MoDOT will issue a request for proposals in September 2022. The design-build team is expected to be selected in March 2023, with construction beginning as early as spring 2023.
