The new viaduct will cross over the Sakia El Hamra River Valley near the city of Laayoune and connect with the nearly completed 1,055km-long Tiznit-Dakhla Highway.

The 1,648m-long and 21.4m-wide viaduct will carry two dual expressways and a pedestrian walkway.

The bridge will improve connectivity with the southern regions and prevent traffic disruptions caused by flooding. It is estimated it will take around 40 months to construct at a cost of around US$141 million.
