The government of Malaysia has today shelved plans for a bridge to replace the 1km-long Johor Causeway that provides a link to Singapore. It had unilaterally started work on its end of the crossing but Singapore would not follow suit while there were outstanding diplomatic disputes. These include the use of Malaysian military airspace and the supply of sand.
