The bridge will cross an expressway to connect the districts of Pirituba and Lapa.
Mayor Bruno Covas said that the expectation is that work will begin in the next two weeks.
Funding of US$94 million will be invested in the bridge and an associated bus corridor, using money collected from traffic fines.
The aim is for the project to be completed in the second half of next year.
