The operation, will create a 130m2 area of deck on the project's Ditton Junction Bridge. Deck construction of the main cable-stayed bridge is also set to start, following the installation of form travellers earlier this month (link opens in new tab).
The project involves construction of a 2.3km, six-lane toll bridge, including a three-pylon, cable-stayed main section with a total span of 998m over the Mersey.
Client for the scheme is Halton Borough Council, operating through the Mersey Gateway Crossings Board. The bridge is being designed, built, financed and operated by Merseylink, whose contractors are FCC Construcción, Kier Infrastructure & Overseas and Samsung C&T Corporation. Flint & Neill is the leader of the design joint venture team, working with URS. CH2M is technical and contractual advisor to the MGCB.
