The proposed crossing between Trondheim and Fosen in central Norway would combine a floating bridge and a cable-stayed bridge.

The total length would be 6.7km, including a 5.3km floating section that would more than double the current world record. No existing floating bridges are longer than approximately 2.4km.

The cable-stayed bridge would have a main span of 700m.

Ramboll estimates that the initiative would cost US$1.92 billion. The local development authority hopes that it will be included in Norway’s national transport plan for 2017.
