Renfrew Bridge has officially recorded its millionth crossing after just four months, according to Renfrewshire Council.

The two-lane road bridge connects Renfrew with Yoker across the Clyde near Glasgow, providing better access to a manufacturing innovation park.

The Scottish local authority started recording crossings of the moveable bridge over the Clyde on 21 June. Since then, the structure has seen 800,000 car crossings, 22,000 crossings by cyclists and 35,000 by walkers.

The bridge is part of the Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside Project (link opens in new tab). Involved in the build of the 184m cable-stayed twin-leaf bridge were Hardesty & Hanover, Roughan & O’Donovan, Ramboll, Amey, Hycom Engineering, and Fairfield Control Systems. The two parts of the bridge were manufactured in the Netherlands by Hollandia Infra and by Smulders Iemants in Belgium.
