The city government in Shanghai, China, has said that it plans to build a new bridge over Suzhou Creek in the district of Jing’an.

The new bridge will have a length of 800m and be about 45m wide, with provision for pedestrians as well as road traffic.

There are already about 30 bridges over the creek. The typical spacing between the seven crossings nearest to the site of the new bridge is about 470m.

The city authority said that it is soliciting public opinion about the project and evaluating the environmental impact.
