New York State Thruway Authority’s New NY Bridge will replace the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is replacing the Goethals Bridge, which spans the Arthur Kill. Both structures will be cable-stayed bridges.

Structal-Bridges’ agreement with the Tappan Zee Constructors joint venture is for the supply of the steel components for the reconstruction of the 680m main span of the 5km bridge.

The Goethals Bridge contract awarded by Kiewit-Weeks-Massman mandates Structal-Bridges to fabricate the steel components for the 498m-long eastbound and westbound spans. In addition to fabricating the structural steel, Structal-Bridges will also supply the anchor boxes that are to be installed in the top section of the eight towers.

The steel components for the two projects will be fabricated between December 2014 and August 2016 at parent company Canam Group’s plants in Maryland and New Hampshire, while deliveries will take place from July 2015 to September 2016.
