Sudan has taken steps towards restoring a war-damaged Nile bridge in the capital city of Khartoum.

At a ceremony last week, the government signed contracts worth a total of US$11 million relating to the rehab and maintenance of Halfaya Bridge, which connects Omdurman and Khartoum Bahri.

The Roads and Bridges Authority of Khartoum State signed contracts with Sudan’s Inspection Technology and Quality Assurance National Institute (Itqan) for engineering consulting; and with IBC Construction Company. The implementation period is nine months.
