Surtees Bridge readies for 275t delivery
More than 275t of machinery and steelwork will be transported in three huge loads this week as part of the Highways Agency's Surtees Bridge Replacement scheme in northern England. Six bridge sections up to 57m long are being taken in special loads, some of which exceed 70m. Fabricator Cleveland Bridge UK is supplying the bridge sections. Three journeys will be needed to move all the sections to site and each 19km journey is expected to take three hours. Some traffic signs, lighting columns and barriers have had to be temporarily removed to allow the vehicle's passage.
