The first of three cargo ships is leaving South Korea this month, carrying 16 of the New Tacoma Narrows Bridge's 46 deck sections. The first ship (see photo) is due to arrive in Tacoma in early June. The deck sections are typically 23.7m by 36.6m and weigh 450t. Lifting them all into position will take about four months. The new suspension bridge is now nearly 80% complete.
