A consortium made of Porr and Strabag has been chosen for the task of demolishing and replacing the 55-year-old bridge that has reached the end of its life.

Lueg Bridge is 1.8km long and is a complex structure with pillars up to 60m high. It is set in a challenging hillside location and traverses the river Sill. Working over six years, the consortium will replace it with a pair of composite slab-girder bridges. The Innsbruck carriageway will be built first alongside the old structure. Traffic will use the new carriageway, while the old bridge is demolished and replaced with the Brenner carriage way.
