The county of Monmouth, New Jersey, in the eastern USA is celebrating the opening of a replacement moveable bridge.
The new Rumson–Sea Bright Bridge over the Shrewsbury River replaces a 1950s structure that was deemed functionally obsolete. It carried Rumson Road with one lane in either direction. It is one of two critical emergency evacuation routes in an area prone to flooding and coastal storms.
The new wider structure has two eastbound lanes and one westbound with shoulders and sidewalks on both sides for cyclists and foot travellers. The main span is a double-lead steel girder trunnion bascule.

The old bridge was kept open during the works, and will now be demolished.
