Work has begun in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, on a project to build a bridge with multiple structural arches, cables and aesthetic lighting.
The US$16.4 million project will provide cyclists and walkers with a safe route over a major highway.

Michael Smith of Charlotte Center City Partners, said, “Closing the gap in the Rail Trail with this iconic architecture will knit together neighbourhoods, expand the CBD and enhance hospitality connectivity.”
The design team includes Schlaich Bergermann Partner, Thomas and Hutton and Depeña Studios. The bridge is being built under a public private partnership between the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Department of Transportation, Charlotte Center City Partners and private sector investors.
