The bridge was removed in sections: four 75m, 200t spans and one 200m, 360t span. Each piece was jacked-up using ALE's Mega Jack 800 and modular spreader beams on a ballastable modular pontoon. 

The spans were then transported to a jetty with three tug boats helping guide the pontoon, which was de-ballasted to conduct the jack-down sequence over the jetty. The Mega Jack 800 then unloaded the spans onto a skidding system. 

The operation was part of a project to boost cargo transport on the Danube River by 20%.
