Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet committee meeting agreed to move forward with plans for the two new walking and cycling bridges, which are at different stages of development.

Kepax Bridge

Kepax Bridge (above) is further ahead in the planning process, as the application for planning permission was submitted by Worcestershire County Council last year and is due to be determined later this year. Worcestershire County and Worcester City councils are working in partnership to provide the new walking and cycling bridge over the River Severn between Gheluvelt Park and Kepax. The scheme aims to provide improved cycle and pedestrian connectivity to the north of Worcester city and to enhance links along the riverside.

The Hampton Walking & Cycling Bridge across the River Avon in Evesham was identified as a requirement as part of the planning submission for a housing development to the west of the town in 2014. The bridge would provide a direct link from Hampton to the town centre, schools, employment and the rail station.
