The community of Satu Mare in northwestern Romania has celebrated the inauguration of a 644m cable-stayed road bridge.
Austrian construction company Strabag handed the structure, which crosses the Somes River, over to the city hall at the end of May. The harp-shaped structure has two 73m pylons and is designed to take a load of 12,000t.

Strabag drew on drone-mounted LiDAR technology to map the anchor plates in the bridge piers to ensure optimal alignment and tensioning of the 56 high-strength steel cables.
The Transylvania Bridge has a 15-year warranty and the project was worth US$45.3 million.
