Work has started on the Mandurah Estuary Bridge duplication in Western Australia.

Contractor Georgiou (link opens in new tab) has turned the sod on the second two lane bridge with a four-metre shared path. The 15 concrete segments will be fabricated on site and launched incrementally from the estuary’s south-east embankment.

Others involved in the project are Mains Roads Western Australia, principal designer BG&E and marine works subcontractor Brady Marine & Civil. The national and regional governments are each contributing US$35 million to the project. Completion is set for the end of 2025.

The bridge, which dates from the 1980s, was constructed with duplication in mind.
