The US$13 million Middlehaven Dock Bridge and link road will create a major new access point that will kick-start the next phase of the town’s regeneration programme.

Middlehaven Dock Bridge

Contractor Balfour Beatty will replace the existing footbridge across Middlehaven Dock with a road bridge, which is due to open next summer. The lifting bridge will feature a 95t steel deck with 120t of steel reinforcement and 159t of precast concrete units.

The scheme has been designed and progressed by Middlesbrough Council over the last 18 months with an injection of US$5 million in funding from Tees Valley Combined Authority.
