People are being invited to comment on which of the concepts they like best and the feedback will be given to the competition's judges to help them choose the winning entries on 28 September.

The US$24 million bridge across the Viaduct Harbour will be used by pedestrians, cyclists and passenger transport only. The design will be required to provide 40m clearance to allow the passage of large vessels. The bridge will also open. Studies on boat movements will guide the designers to ensure that it opens and closes quickly, to maximise the time available for crossing while providing regular access for boat traffic needing access to the inner harbour area.

The council aims to complete the bridge by 2011.
