The design that has been picked is the one that had been described as ‘bold’ in the list of five options that had been shortlisted last year (link opens in new tab).
A public meeting was held online this week to share the chosen design.
The existing bridge is closed to all traffic as it is considered to be structurally unsound. The US Coast Guard has informed the city that the bridge is hazard to navigation due to the risk of it falling into the water below.
