Guangdong provincial transportation group announced that work began this week on one of the bridge sections of the link across the Pearl River Delta. The project also includes an underwater tunnel and two artificial islands.
On completion in 2024 the highway will cut the travel time between the two cities from two hours to 30 minutes.
