Kangaroo Point Bridge is designed to offer pedestrians and cyclists with a 'stunning arrival experience' into the city centre.
Building Kangaroo Point Bridge is in line with a target for the city to embrace the river with investment in new crossings and improvements to existing bridges.
Woolloongabba Link is another new crossing planned for the river under the masterplan, and there will also be upgrades to Victoria Bridge.
Kangaroo Point Bridge will connect with a node on the bus network and is also intended to improve commuter access and take pressure off existing routes. One of the key design principles is for the bridge to have an elegant form that contributes to Brisbane's identity as a city of bridges. The idea for the bridge's design is by Richard Kirk Architects.
Other priority projects for the next five years include development of wharfs, key streets and a new transit network.
