The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) has approved a progressive design-build contract worth US$73 million for the replacement of the Frances Scott Key Bridge.
Kiewit, one of the largest construction and engineering organisation in North America, was awarded the contract this week.
The rebuild will start in 2025, with completion expected in autumn 2028.
MDTA has released a request for proposals for another US$75 million contract, for general engineering consultancy services, and will award this in January 2025. It awarded a salvage contract to a Swedish company in June (link opens in new tab).
