The bridge is being built by Autostrada under a design-build contract.

Ukraine’s state road agency, Ukravtodor, announced that the contractor has started to build the bridge following the completion of preparatory work for the project.

The length of the bridge will be 1,409m, including 700m over the river.

The bridge regarded as one of the flagships of a presidential programme of major construction works. It will provide an alternative to the ferry service at the Yampil-Koseuts border crossing and will form a key element of the Kyiv-Chisinau transport corridor.

Work on the site is being carried out around the clock. Drilling for piles is being carried out with the help equipment including two Bauer rigs with a drilling depth of up to 50m.

Installation of an on-site concrete production plant has been completed; start-up and commissioning works are currently under way.

So far, more than 2,500t of steel girders for the structure have been manufactured.

Construction works on the site will ramp up in early spring with the onset of more favourable weather conditions. The client expects that the project will involve about 500 employees and more than 100 units of special equipment during the peak period.

Construction is scheduled to take two years.
