Washington State DOT video showing the devastation that would ensue if an earthquake hit the Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle.

This visualisation shows the collapse of the viaduct, part of Washington State Route 99, and adjacent seawall due to a seismic event. The simulated earthquake is similar to the 2001 Nisqually earthquake but lasts longer, is closer to Seattle, or has a slightly greater magnitude.

A project to replace the vulnerable viaduct and seawall is under way, see more details at WSDOT's project page here.
