The proposed US$224 million Mordialloc Bypass involves construction of a 9km link road. Five boreholes, between 35m and 50m deep, will drilled at potential bridge pier locations through the wetlands area to help inform the design of the structure, which will cross a road and the Mordialloc Creek wetlands.

Drilling over water will take place from a 6m by 6m pontoon, which will be lifted into place by a 200 tonne crane to protect the vegetation around the banks of the wetlands.

Local consultation will help shape the final design. A preliminary business case has been prepared and a final detailed business case is currently under way, as well as work on the required planning and environmental approvals.
