The crossing linking the cities of Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai on the Pearl River Delta consists of three cable-stayed bridges, an undersea tunnel and four artificial islands.

The 55km-long bridge-tunnel structure was completed in February and opened to the public on 24 October 2018.

Some of the design and construction challenges that were overcome during the construction of the crossing are outlined here (subscriber access).
