Transportation and infrastructure minister Doyle Piwniuk announced the plan for the new bridge over Manning Canal on Provincial Road (PR) 311.

“This bridge sees over 3,000 vehicles per day and is an important route in the Blumenort area,” said Piwniuk. “We are working to have the bridge reconstructed and reopened in the quickest timeline possible to minimise traffic impacts in the area.”

The bridge, which was 42 years old, has since been dismantled to ensure the safety of the site and a route detour has been put in place.

The Manitoba government is reviewing various options for reconstructing the bridge, with a priority placed on reopening to traffic as soon as possible. The new bridge will have a higher capacity for heavy vehicles and is expected to be open to traffic in 2025, Piwniuk added.
