The work involves an investment of over US$86 million and is expected to enable more than a thousand jobs to be reactivated. The bridges are on the national road network and are spread across six regions of the country.

The plan is intended to come into operation once the health emergency has ended. Work will be led by Provías Nacional, a unit within the transport ministry. The scheme includes four bridges in Tumbes, four in Áncash, eight in Junín, 13 in Cajamarca, six in La Libertad and one in Arequipa.

Provías Nacional stressed that the projects will be carried out in compliance with safety protocols such as physical distancing, the disinfection of vehicles and the installation of washing points.
