A bridge that carries road traffic 184m above a river gorge in Italy is partway through its restoration.
Cadore viaduct in the north east Alpine region of Italy is a reinforced concrete bridge with Corten steel struts designed by Studio Matildi and built by Mazzi in 1985.
Rizzani De Eccher is carrying out the restoration with Anas, the company that manages Italy’s road network. The project includes restoration of the approach viaducts and the central spans and their Corten steel struts. It also includes slope stabilisation and consolidation of the foundations and piers, seismic adaptations and conversion of the metal spans to a continuous deck. PERI is providing scaffolding services.
