A steel arch cycle bridge over the Afleidingskanaal in the town of Nevele will be brought in by ship from Ghent and hoisted into place on the evening of Saturday 18 January from cranes mounted on pontoons.
The following Saturday, engineers will put the 70-tonne deck in place on the Loveline Bridge, hoisting it from a pontoon before attaching it to arches and hangers. Shipping on the canal will be halted during this work.

In February, the approach ramps will be brought in by water and put in place with a crane.
The crossing will be open to cyclists and pedestrians in the summer.
The bridge was fabricated in Ghent by Aelterman. Loveling Bridge is part of the European inland waterway network Seine-Scheldt, an EU-subsidised sustainable transport project.
