An unloved metal bridge in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, UK, that was so low it could not accommodate pedestrians and cyclists using the canal-side path will be replaced with a spectacular modern structure designed by architects Gagarin Studio.

The landmark bridge will take pedestrians and cyclists over the Erewash Canal from Long Eaton Town Centre to West Park. It is part of a US$31.8million project to improve the waterfront area. The improvements will also include launching for paddleboards and kayaks.

The project is funded by a grant to Erewash Borough Council from the UK government’s Town Deal and was brought about by Long Eaton Town Deal Board with input from local people, The Environment Agency and the Canal and River Trust.
