Meeting this milestone has allowed engineers to announce that Danjiang Bridge will open in May 2026. The structure is 920m long and provides a crossing over the Tamsui River for Taipei’s light rail system, pedestrians and cyclists, as well as motor traffic.
The bridge design is by a joint venture of Sinotech Engineering Consultants and Leonhardt, Andra and Partner with Zaha Hadid Architects (link opens in new tab). Its 200m high concrete mast was placed to avoid impeding sunset views along the river.
Further work will include laying of asphalt and installation of lighting and noise barriers. The team will also adjust cable forces and carry out structural load testing.
