The previous tender for Msikaba River Bridge had been cancelled as no acceptable bids were received. The contract for its sister project, the Mtentu Bridge, was awarded in August (link opens in new tab).

The Msikaba River Bridge will be 580m single-span cable-stayed crossing of a deep forested gorge flanked on each side with high sandstone cliffs. At no stage will work be done in the gorge and the deck will be cantilevered out from the banks.
