The US Biden-Harris administration is open to applications from bridge projects over US$100 million for a share of US$10 billion.
The Federal Highway Administration grants are for projects during fiscal years 2023-2026 that focus on replacement, rehabilitation, preservation and protection of existing bridges. US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said, “These grants will help communities across the country modernize their bridges, and make it easier for everyone to move quickly, reliably, and safely to their destinations.”
This discretionary grant scheme, known as the Bridge Investment Program, is competitive, and applicants can use a new benefit cost analysis tool to ensure their project meets criteria. Applications for smaller projects (up to US$100 million) will open soon.
