Archer Western Construction is leading a joint venture with Traylor Bros to replace the northbound I-275 Howard Frankland Bridge over Old Tampa Bay. Client for the scheme is Florida Department of Transportation.

The new bridge, which will be approximately 5km long, will be built to the north of the current southbound interstate bridge. BCC Engineering is the lead engineer for the project, which will feature four southbound general purpose lanes, two southbound express lanes, two northbound express lanes, as well as a shared-use path and accommodations for light rail.

The existing southbound bridge will be converted to the new northbound I-275. When complete, the current northbound bridge will be removed.

Construction is due to begin this autumn with completion scheduled for 2026.
