Miaoziping Bridge ready to reopen after earthquake repairs
Earthquake damage to China's Miaoziping Bridge has now been fully repaired, following Saturday's placement of the final batch of underwater concrete after a difficult operation to install steel formwork deep underwater. The bridge over the Zipingpu Reservoir in the Sichuan province suffered severe damage in last year's major earthquake.
To the south of the Indian metropolis of Mumbai, construction work is proceeding apace on the Bandra-Worli Sealink project. With its 500m-long main span and striking architectural design, the main bridge ranks as one of the most spectacular construction projects on the Indian subcontinent.
