The structural integrity on the coastal bridges in the Lincoln City and Florence areas has been deteriorating to the point that they would otherwise soon have to be closed to large vehicles over a certain weight.
Oregon Department of Transportation has announced the imminent start of repairs and protection at the D-River Bridge on the US 101 road, with work on Schooner Creek Bridge beginning in January 2019. Similar work for a bridge at Siltcoos River is planned for spring 2020. Overall, the programme will continue until 2021.
The bridges will receive repairs to damaged concrete, a zinc coating or zinc blocks to protect against the harsh coastal climate and structural strengthening using steel and titanium. The work will also include the replacement of the bridges' railings to meet current crash standards.
