Peab has won the contract, which is worth approximately US$24 million.
One part of the project is for a bridge on Road 263 that goes over Håtunaviken at Erikssund on the border of the municipalities of Sigtuna and Upplands-Bro. The other bridge is on Road 841 and goes over Almarestäket at the border of Järfälla and Upplands-Bro.
Both the new bridges will have wider lanes and will provide special lanes for pedestrians and bicyclists to improve safety.
“We’re very pleased to be part of building two new bridges that improve traffic safety and bearing capacity,” said Peab Civil Engineering product manager Thomas Larsson. “Participating in making sure we have safe and reliable bridges is important work for us as community builders and we are proud of it.” He added that the company has identified a number of synergies relating to technical aspects shared by the two bridges.
Construction is expected to begin in autumn 2021 and to be completed during 2024.
