A-Híd beat Strabag Általános Építo to win the US$63 million contract.
Award of the contract has been approved by the directors of BKK, the Centre for Budapest Transport.
The gross price for the renovation of the bridge is approximately US$90 million, which covers the winning net bid price, a mandatory 10% reserve, the statutory technical inspection and other costs. The municipality said that it is committed to renovating the bridge and will cover the costs even if payment of a government grant is delayed.
Work is expected to begin in February, for completion in autumn 2023. The bridge will be out of use for 18 months during the renovation.
