The new crossing will replace the 70-year-old Brighton Road swing bridge on the Trent-Severn Waterway.

Brighton Road swing bridge

It will span the Murray Canal to connect the municipalities of Prince Edward County and Quinte West.

The current bridge is 47.4m long and its replacement will have increased load capacity and no restrictions for emergency and service vehicles. Canam will supply seven orthotropic steel deck panels, which will be installed by its subsidiary St Lawrence Erectors.

This project must be completed by May 2018.

It is Canam’s third swing bridge project in Ontario, after replacing the Hastings Bridge in 2016 and the Kingston Mills Bridge in 2017.
